Introduction

Mount Emei, located about 160 kilometers southwest of Chengdu, is one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is famous for its stunning natural scenery, ancient Buddhist temples, and the Golden Summit with its golden Buddha statue.

History

Buddhism has been practiced on Mount Emei for over 1,900 years. The mountain is home to many ancient temples, some dating back to the Han Dynasty. It is also known as the place where Samantabhadra Bodhisattva attained enlightenment.

Main Attractions

• Golden Summit: The highest peak of Mount Emei, featuring a golden Buddha statue and stunning views.
• Baoguo Temple: The largest temple on the mountain, located at the foot of the mountain.
• Wannian Temple: An ancient temple known for its bronze Buddha statue.
• Jinding Temple: A temple located at the Golden Summit with beautiful architecture.
• Monkey Reserve: A protected area where visitors can see wild monkeys.

• Combine with Leshan: Mount Emei is close to Leshan Giant Buddha, making it easy to visit both in one trip.
