Introduction

Sera Monastery, located in the northern suburbs of Lhasa, is one of the most important monasteries in the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. It is particularly famous for its daily monk debates.

Founded in 1419, Sera Monastery was established by a disciple of Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school. The monastery complex covers a large area with multiple temples, dormitories, and courtyards.
