Du Fu Thatched Cottage is the former residence of Du Fu, one of China’s greatest poets from the Tang Dynasty. Located on the western outskirts of Chengdu, the cottage is a beautiful park and museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the poet and promoting Chinese literature.
Du Fu lived in this cottage during the years 759-762, a period of great turmoil in Chinese history. During his time here, he wrote over 240 poems, many of which are considered masterpieces of Chinese literature. The original cottage was destroyed over time, but the current complex was rebuilt in the 19th century and has been expanded since.
