Qibao Ancient Town, located in Minhang District, is one of Shanghai’s best-preserved ancient towns. With a history dating back over 900 years, it offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into traditional Chinese life along the waterways.
Qibao, meaning ‘Seven Treasures,’ gets its name from seven legendary treasures that were discovered here in ancient times. The town was an important trading center during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and many historic buildings from that era have been preserved.
Qibao is famous for its local snacks, including osmanthus cakes, fried dough twists, and various traditional pastries. For shopping, visitors can find handicrafts, antiques, and souvenirs.
