The Shanghai Bund is located along the Huangpu River, stretching about 1.5 kilometers. It is a symbolic landmark of the city, with its diverse collection of historic buildings and the stunning view of the river at night being its essence.
The Bund is home to dozens of classic revival buildings, including famous landmarks such as the Bank of China Building, Peace Hotel, Customs House, and the HSBC Building, which all showcase the past splendor of the “Wall Street of the East.” Interestingly, these buildings were designed by different architects and built in various periods, yet they come together to form a unique, harmonious beauty. The Bund features multiple architectural styles, including French classical, French residential, and Gothic, making it one of China’s important historical and representative sites, as well as a picturesque view along the Huangpu River.
At night, the neon lights on both sides of the river create a dazzling effect. Taking a Huangpu River cruise or ferry allows you to experience the breeze while admiring the Bund’s historical significance on one side, the modern skyline of Lujiazui on the other, and the beautiful silhouette of the Waibaidu Bridge, offering a different perspective of this vibrant city.
